Population aging: The major health-related challenges of population aging include increased prevalence of chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancer. There is also a higher risk of cognitive decline and dementia among the elderly population. Additionally, there is a need for long-term care services and support for older adults, as well as addressing social isolation and mental health issues.
From red to gray; the "third transition" of aging populations in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union: This report by the World Bank discusses the challenges and implications of population aging in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. It highlights the need for policy reforms and investments in healthcare and social protection systems to address the needs of the growing elderly population in these regions.
Prospettive future – "L'hospice" di Gilles Barbier (2002): This refers to an artwork by Gilles Barbier called "L'hospice" which explores the concept of aging and end-of-life care. It raises questions about the quality of care and support provided to the elderly in society.
World of work: The traditional characteristics of work include clear roles and responsibilities, stable and well-defined positions, and easy identification of the organization's structure. However, the new world of work is characterized by flexible organizations, less defined roles and responsibilities, various types of contracts, increased mobility, and the growth of the tertiary sector.
Part-time work in the EU: The percentage of part-time employment in the EU has increased from 14.2% in 1992 to 18.2% in 2002. This trend varies among member states, with Italy having the highest percentage (62.1% in 2002) and Germany having a significant increase from 14.5% in 1992 to 20.8% in 2002. The average percentage for males is 6.6% in 2002, while for females it is 33.5%.
