Protective Foods

Foods such as leafy or yellow vegetables, citrus fruits, meat, milk, eggs that contain adequate amounts of vitamins, mineral salts are necessary for better and healthier body development.

The body requires vitamins in small quantities for normal functioning. They are also important for protection of the body from diseases.
They are organic substances.
There are different types of vitamins. Each has specific functions. When any vitamin is lacking in the body, various deficiency diseases will occur.

Vitamins are classified into two main groups:

1. Fat-soluble vitamins: These are soluble in fat. They include vitamins A, D, E, and K.

2. Water-soluble vitamins: These are soluble in water. They include vitamins B complex group and vitamin C.
There functions are specific and indispensable for body groom.

Minerals are inorganic elements which are necessary for the formation of body structure and the maintenance of health. There are two major groups of minerals:

- Major elements: The body requires these in larger quantities than it does the trace elements. Theses hot elements include: calcium, iron, phosphorous, potassium, sodium, chloride, sulphur.

- Trace elements: The body requires these in very small amounts. They include iodine, fluorine, etc.
