If I only knew then what I know now...
If I only knew then what I know now, then I would have done things differently. Or maybe not? There was a reason why a made certain choices, well most of the times at least. Certainly I have made mistakes but aren’t mistakes the most important lesson we get in our lifetime? If I had chosen differently I wouldn’t have met a lot of people which are now my friends or I wouldn’t have done many experiences that helped building the person that I am now.
Yes, I would have met different people, aka making different friends, and I would have lived through different experiences. But there’s no way to know whether they would have been better friends or better experiences. Whether they would have made me a better person. How can I know that I wouldn’t have made the same mistakes anyway? Or maybe others, and maybe even worst ones? Let the bygones be bygones, my grandfather used to say. What is in the past you can’t change and the ifs aren’t going to change anything or make the present any better or the future greener. It's what you do in the present that makes the difference. I think the trick is in accepting the choices you have made and the person who are now. Only then you will be able to move forward and better yourself every day of your life.
