Dear Sir / Dear Madam,
As a part of my cooking course at Bergamo College, I am going to work at your hotel Olympus in Brighton for the upcoming summer.
The course I have been attending since last September covers subjects such as cookery, bakery, hygiene, nutritional science and guest service. Furthermore, an English class is included in it. I have lately completed the upper-intermediate level and I have been assigned to the advance class.
Last year, I worked in a Mexican restaurant as a waiter / waitress and I gained experience working as a cook for the primary school of my town, in Italy. I used to plan a different menu every week in order to make the children’s diet as much balanced as possible, since I strongly believe that eating well is indispensable to be healthy. In fact, I was particularly keen on preparing typical Italian dishes using fresh locally grown ingredients.
Having said that, I hope to be able to develop in cooking traditional dishes of Greek cousine, which I am passionate about, and for whom the restaurant of your hotel is said to be the best in the whole city. I really appreciate that I have been given the opportunity to work as an assistant to its main chef.
I wonder whether I will be provided with a uniform or I am required to bring specific pieces of clothing. I would be very grateful if you could send me a sample of the usual menu of the restaurant, so that I could practice making your most popular meals and improve.
I look forward to starting to work.
Yours faithfully / Yours sincerely
