Zumba is a group fitness lesson that uses Afro-Caribbean music, rhythms and movements, mixed with traditional aerobic movements. It was created by a dancer and a choreographer called Alberto “Beto” Perez during 1990s in Miami. The main objective is to create high calories consumption thanks to its variable intensity
In the last years it has become very popular in Italy. I got to know about Zumba thanks to a friend of mine , in fact she really likes it. I was very curious and I decided to go to the gym with her for a trial and I immediately liked it so I decided to join the class. . I’m a very active person and I love to move and to keep in shape because I think that sedentary lifestyle is not a good thing for our health. I live here in Rome and also the gym where I practice Zumba is located in this town, so I can easy reach it. This gym is attended by many people, men and women, but the Zumba classes are made up only by women.
I’m a biologist and now I’m working in a hospital in Caserta. I dedicate a lot of my time to my work because I love it, but at the same time I think that it is important to spend part of our time for ourselves. I prefer going to the gym rather than staying home. I go on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from seven to eight pm, and I try to do my best never to miss a lesson. My instructor is called Lucia Celestino. She is very nice and sociable, but unfortunately at the end of this month she will probably leave . I hope that the next instructor, will be just as good as she is. I’ve never been) a big reader or a big computer fan but I have always thought that practicing sport is very important for our fitness. I tried different sports but no one struck me as Zumba did . It’s fun, it’s healthy and at the same time you burn lots of calories without realizing it. I’ve been practicing Zumba for two years now and I’m still very happy about it. I’ve never felt so good! I recommend this discipline to everyone.
