Communication

What makes a good communicator?

I think that a good communicator must be a good listener. He has to maintain eye contact and have a relaxed body language. I think it’s important the awareness of body language because if you believe in yourself, people believe in you. I think also that a good communicator must be good at giving information, he must have fluency in the language and an extensive vocabulary. He mustn’t confuse his listener and he must avoid abbreviation or jargon. I think that an effective communicator must have the ability to engage with colleagues, employees, and customers because good communication is important for any business.

What forms of written and spoken communication can you think of?

There are different ways to communicate. I can communicate with people through written communication like e-mail, texting or mobile chat or with spoken communication like telephone, face to face communication, and interview.

Which of these do you like using? Why?

I prefer face to face communication but sometimes it’s impossible because of long distances so I also like texting; I use WhatsApp, a mobile chat. I like it because it is quick and immediate and I also can send pictures.

What problems can people have with them?

There are some negative aspects of written communication like problems related to connection (you can’t continue the conversation) or e-mail spam (messages from someone with whom we haven’t a relationship). There are also some negative aspects of spoken communication like a communication breakdown by phone and maybe you can’t hear. (In an interview, if the interviewer is a rambling person, we can have some misunderstanding).

How do you think those problems can be solved?

By improving technology.

International marketing

What are the advantages for a company of expanding beyond its domestic market?

The brand can become popular and international with more customers in different countries. The brand can improve its net worth and make its image stronger abroad. The advantages are related to the possibility to buy raw materials in large quantities (bulks) at lower prices. Advice: have a local general manager/be clear, be patient.

What kind of problems do companies face when they go international?

When companies go international, they probably could have problems about local culture, like problems about language, colors, gestures, numbers, habits, and also they could not understand local distribution.

What methods can companies use to enter overseas markets?

  • Indirect export: When they use an intermediary
  • Direct export: When they handle exports themselves or they have overseas sales
