The Willing ghost is a book by Robert Wellington which talks about private detectives, people who are hired to investigate about some criminal activities (for example, one of the most famous private detectives of literature is Sherlock Holmes). Nothing more is known about Robert Wellington, only that he has written this novel.
The book talks about Selena, daughter of Sir Arthur Willing and her heiress, who hires Richard Boot, a private detective, because she thinks there’s a ghost in her home. Selena is the only heiress of Sir Arthur because he has no good relationship with his other two sons.

To investigate about the ghost, Richard decides to sleep in the house. For the first two nights nothing happens, but on the third night they hear some noises like footsteps. The next day, Richard checks the house again and finds a secret mechanism which opens a panel in the wall and reveals some steps. He goes down and discovers a secret room full of cushions, jewels and treasures.
He stays another night in accordance with the police. Just as he hears again the strange noise, the police come in and they find Selena’s two brothers with three Asian men who are trying to carry away the cushions. So the mystery of the strange noises is revealed.
