Orwell wrote it in 1948, and he images Britain 40 years in the future as a totalitarian dictatorship which combines elements of both Communism and Fascism in a omniscient police state based on terror. The rules is known to the enslaved population as Big Brother, big photos of him dominate every public space with a terrible warning “Big Brother is watching you”. At home every citizen is spied on by a telecamera, the hero is Winston Smith is an intellectual and a member of the party who eventually rebels against this system, he enjoys a brief love affair with another rebel Julia, but in the end the thought Police arrests him and he is brain washed into conformity again.
