Arveragus and His Marriage
Arveragus, a chivalrous knight, wants a wife. He finds and marries a beautiful girl, Dorigen, and they promise to always respect each other. Later, the knight goes to England for two years and his wife is very sad without him. She always sits on the shore and looks at the bare rocks. One day, Dorigen goes on a picnic with her friends. There there is Aurelius, a handsome man which has loved Dorigen for two years. He reveals her his love, but she refuses him. She will love him only if he removes all the rocks from the coast.
But it's impossible, so he comes back home and gets sick.
His brother helps him: he remembers a student who knew a magic code. Aurelius goes to this boy and promises him 1000 pounds if the magician gives him the solution. He agrees and the deed is performed. He comes back to Dorigen which had to keep her promise, but she preferred died than disgrace herself. Meanwhile, Arveragus comes back and finds Dorigen which is sad. She tells him everything and goes to Aurelius to keep her promise. However, Aurelius send the lady back because of the nobility and sacrifice of Arveragus.
Aurelius's Debt
Aurelius must pay the magician but he hasn't money enough.
When the magician discovers this, he cancels Aurelius's entire debite.
