Trama Di Amleto In Inglese

Hamlet, the protagonist, is the prince of Denmark, and his father, the king, died. After that, Hamlet’s uncle Claudius married Gertrude, Hamlet’s mother. At the beginning of the play a ghost who looks just like the dead king appears to the soldiers, and they decide to tell Hamlet. Claudius tells Hamlet he needs to stop acting so sad about his father’s death and Hamlet says he will, even though he’s actually disgusted that his mother married Claudius so soon.

Hamlet also has a girlfriend, Ophelia. Her father Polonius and her brother Laertes try to convince her that Hamlet most likely doesn’t love her, since he is a prince and he can’t marry whoever he likes. Ophelia decides she doesn’t want to talk to Hamlet anymore. Hamlet then sees the ghost with his own eyes: it tells him that it’s actually him, the dead king, and that he was murdered by Claudius with poison in his ear. Hamlet decides to take revenge and that he’s going to act as if he’s crazy. Ophelia tells her dad Hamlet came to see her after she rejected his love letters, and that he seemed insane (he was trembling and looked pale and scared). So, Polonius thinks Hamlet actually loves Ophelia, and that he has gone mad because of her rejection. Claudius and Gertrude notice Hamlet’s weird attitude, and ask some of his friends to try and find out what made him go mad. Hamlet’s friends try to cheer him up by telling him that a company of travelling actors is at the castle. Hamlet decides he’ll have the actors perform a play that represents a king murdered with poison in his ear, to see how Claudius will react and if he’s going to confess the murder. Claudius and Gertrude want to check if Hamlet has gone mad because he’s lovesick, so they organize a meeting between him and Ophelia. Hamlet is hostile towards Ophelia, and after hearing them talk, Claudius thinks Hamlet isn’t in love with Ophelia, but is obsessed with something anyway. Claudius thinks Hamlet might threaten him, so he decides to send him to England with his two friends.

That evening the play is performed. When Claudius sees the murder scene, he gets very upset and leaves the room: this proves to Hamlet Claudius’ guilt. When Claudius is alone, he finally admits he murdered the king, and he tries to pray for forgiveness. Hamlet hears him, comes in the room with a sword but doesn’t kill him because he thinks Claudius will go to heaven if he dies while praying. Hamlet then goes to his mother (not knowing Polonius is in the same room, hidden behind a tapestry). Hamlet makes Gertrude sit down and tells her she can’t leave until she shows how bad she is for having married Claudius. She is frightened and she starts screaming and asking for help: Polonius is about to come out of his shelter, but before he can, he gets killed by Hamlet who thinks it was Claudius hiding behind the hanging cloth. Hamlet keeps telling Gertrude how bad she is for sleeping with Claudius, and focuses on saying why his father was better than his uncle (he doesn’t tell his mother that Claudius is her former husband’s murderer). The ghost enters the room and scolds Hamlet for wasting time in taking his revenge (Gertrude can’t see the ghost). Claudius sends Hamlet to England with his friends; when he is by himself, he says that he gave letters to Hamlet’s friends so that they could give them to the king of England. In the letters he orders the latter to kill Hamlet. Ophelia loses her mind after her father’s death. Laertes blames Claudius for Polonius’ death and for Ophelia’s madness, but Claudius persuades him that Hamlet is the one to blame. Horatio gets a letter from Hamlet saying that the ship he was on got attacked by pirates: Hamlet is taken prisoner and brought back to Denmark. Claudius and Laertes receive a letter from Hamlet too, where he says he arrived in Denmark and will come to see Claudius alone the next day. Laertes and Claudius now start plotting a new way to kill Hamlet (trying to make it look like an accident). Ophelia drowned herself in a stream. When Hamlet finds out she’s dead he swears there is no one that loves her more than he does.
Then Hamlet is invited to a fencing match with Laertes: he accepts. Before the match starts Laertes poisons his sword and Claudius poisons a cup of whine. Hamlet get the first hit, and Claudius says he’s going to give him a precious pearl, which he drops in the poisoned cup, but Hamlet says he isn’t ready to drink yet. So Gertrude drinks from the cup instead before Claudius can stop her. Laertes then hits Hamlet with his sword, then they exchange swords and Hamlet wounds Laertes with the poisoned one. Laertes says his sword is poisoned and that they’re both going to die. At this point Hamlet stabs Claudius with the poisoned sword and makes him drink from the poisoned cup as well. Before Hamlet dies, he tells Horatio to tell everyone the truth. Then Fortinbras arrives (he is the prince of Norway) to visit Claudius, but when he sees that the whole royal family is dead, he claims the throne of Denmark.
