The story is set in Scotland in the 16th century.
In this story during the night happen terrible events and the night is symbol of damnation.
The main character is Macbeth and he is the evil and the hero at the same time. At the star of the story he is a brave warrior, but he will commit a crime and he will become evil.
The story is divided in 5 acts:
1st act: Macbeth is returning from a battlefield with his friend Banquo.

Scotland was in danger because the thane of Cawder cheated them.

They meet the three witches and they make three predictions:
- Macbeth will become the new thane of Cawder
- Macbeth will become the new king of Scotland
- Banquo's line will become the line of new heirs of Scotland throne.
During the journey they receive a message from the king: he says that he has decided to name Macbeth as new thane of Cawder.
Macbeth becomes ambitious and he decides to kill the king.
2nd act: he invites Duncan (the king of Scotland) to his castle and, with Lady Macbeth's help, he manages to kill the king and to transport the suspicions on a servant. But Malcolm (the king's son) becomes suspicious, but Macbeth becomes king of Scotland.
3rd act: Macbeth starts to think about the 3rd profecy, so he kills Banquo, but his ghost starts to oppress Macbeth.
4th act: the three witches say to Macbeth to be careful about Macduff.
5th act: Lady Macbeth commits suicide because she feels guilty for Duncan's death and his ghost oppresses her.
It ends with Macbeth's death: he is killed by Macduff.
The themes of this work are: ambition, the reversal of values and destiny (in fact the three witches represent the faith or destiny).
