 He was the successor of his father Henry VIII, and he ascended the throne when he was only nine years old. For this reason he had as Protector, his oncle Edward Seymour, duke of Somerset.
He was tolerant in State and Church, this tollerance was cause of the rivalry with the ambitios Duke of Northumberland. In the 1552 Edward fell ill and Northumberland persuased him to give him the coron to Lady Jane Gray, but Northumberland was executed
