Harry Potter … A legend, a generation … between fantasy and reality

The books must be read and deepened very carefully because they are intended to have a significant influence on the thoughts of the generations to come as well as it happened to Harry Potter, an entertaining novel which makes you think too, because it expands the imagination and maintains a certain moral.

In addition, the writer, J.K. Rowling, has managed to introduce the younger generation, drugged by computers and new technologies, to the world of reading.

I have decided to use the theme of Harry Potter as the main link of my work because there are a lot of links with the real world.

A link that made me very curious is the one between the protagonist of the novels, Harry Potter, and ‘Il Fanciullino’ by Pascoli.

The novels can also be connected with various other items such as the authoritarian figure of Voldemort with the Nazi leader Hitler.

A link that perhaps looks a bit ‘more obvious, but in my opinion very interesting, is the one of the werewolves with the moon.

The last reference we can find is with history of arts, namely futurism and the moving sculptures by Alexander Calder and the moving sculptures mostly present in the last chapter of the saga.

The story was invented by the British author Joanne Rowling (she was born on July 31, 1965 in Yate).

Joanne got a degree in French and classical studies, and after a short time in France, she moved to London.

She began to write the saga of Harry Potter while she was waiting for a train on the way from Manchester to London King's Cross and in the following five years she drew the plots of each book.

The first book, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, was published in 1997 under her pen name J.K. Rowling.

Briefly, the story talks about an eleven years old kid who will discover to be a wizard and that his parents were wizards too, killed by one of the most evil wizards in the world, Voldemort.

So Harry starts to attend the school of magic of Hogwarts, where he will grow up and he will live many adventures and try to kill the dark wizard.

The success of the first book surpassed all expectations.

In 1998 was published the second book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and it reached number one on the charts of the best selling best sellers.

It is needless to say that the remaining five books obtained an enormous success all over the world.

Joanne received numerous awards and honors, author of the year in 1998 and 1999, she is part of the British Empire (OBE), James Joyce Award from the college Dublin and she acted as keynote speaker at Harvard University.

She supports a lot of charitable causes, also she has opened numerous charitable homes such as ‘Lumos’.

The novels have a great influence on the readers, my generation can be considered itself as the Harry Potter’s generation, we grew up with the books.

With Harry Potter I learned the value of friendship and love.

These novels have accompanied my childhood and adolescence because as the characters grew up, I also grew up with them and I could also identify myself with them.

These novels teach the difference between good and evil, that the world is not made up of good or bad people, but what counts is only that part we choose to act with.

We can find the theme of treason and injustice, school and study, hilarity, but also deeper themes such as slavery, young rebellion, the media manipulation, depression, loneliness, and also the ugliest theme: death, the loss of the loved ones, and unjust deaths.

It is enough to read one of the books at least once to understand these things and to be hooked.

One of the links that maybe could be immediately seen is the confrontation between Voldemort, Hitler and the Nazi world ...

Adolf Hitler Lord Voldemort
