“My name is Lucy Barton " is a novel by the American writer Elizabeth Strout, which was published in 2016.
Whose protagonist, whose name is Lucy, must stay in hospital because of an infection.
It is a moment of fragility, suffering and loneliness: she is worried about her health; she misses her little daughters; her husband rarely visits her because he hates hospitals.
The only one who will take care of her is her mother.

"My name is Lucy Barton" is a very intimate novel, in which we retrace some episodes of her life together with the protagonist.
Lucy Burton tells her story, through time jumps between her previous and post-hospital life. She tells us about his difficult and miserable childhood, lived in a garage, with the company of books to feel less alone. Her relationship with the family is tormented and he has always tried to escape from it, despite this once he reached his independence, feelings of guilt also came.
