Oscar Wilde (He became famous for his 4 plays. Among this comedies there’s The importance of being Earnest. Eernest means Ernesto but also honest, in fact the story reflects the title because the protagoinst is a loyal man.
With the plays Wilde talked about hypocrise, about the attitudine of his society; for this reason the play are called Society plays. Even if Wilde was criticizing the middle class, the middle class enjoyed his plays.

Tragedia e amicizia

Wilde also wrote a tragedy in French that tells about an episode from the Bible: Salome. He has written this novel because he had a friend, who was an actress so he dedicated the play to her.
In gaol he wrote De prufundis, a collection of letters where he talks about the experience in prison. He has also written The ballad of reading gaol, a poem in which he had spoken about love (the protagonist kills his loves, because loves her too much) and about life in prison. It is a social poem.
