Jane Austen was born in Hampshire in 1775 and was educated at home by her father. She showed an early interest in literature and her main works are Sense and Sensation and pride and prejudice. After her father's death she moved to chawton, where she produced her mature works like Mansfield Park, Emma and Persuasion. She died in 1817 and was buried in Winchester cathedral.
She mastered the novel of manners, which will be very famous during the Victorian age, and based on ordinary events of gentry, analyzing the character's psychology and manners to move towards a moral reflection.
