Cost Comparison: Heat Pump vs Condensing Boiler
HEAT PUMP 10 kWh/3 = 3.3 kWh hourly electricity consumption - € cost per hour of ignition 3.3 * 0.21 = €0.693,00
As shown in the calculations above, there is a significant cost saving in installing a heat pump compared to a regular condensing boiler. This saving increases even more if we consider the discussion of the cost of raw material and the cost of heating/cooling the building considered.
The initial cost of purchasing the two systems is very different, with the heat pump involving a significantly more expensive investment. In general, the price of a heat pump system is around €15,000. The heat pump costs can range from €800 to €1,700/kW, depending on the type of system. In contrast, the cost of a condensing boiler can range from €500 to more than €2,000.
However, due to the higher efficiency and reduced operating costs, the expense pays for itself within a few years. To this must be added the benefit of the enhancement of the property due to the installation of a heat pump.
Consequent raising of the energy class.
Chapter 3: Upshot
Writing this thesis, despite the vast and complicated topic, has helped me to understand better where humanity is in the topic of sustainable energy.
The incentives offered by the Italian state currently concretize a prospect of savings for those who take advantage of them by installing green plants in their appurtenances, however, the cost of the systems, such as photovoltaics, are still too expansive for many of the households, and most of the small and medium-sized business.
Energy, progress, renewable, eco sustainability, world, pollution. These are some of the most frequently used words in this thesis where I explored some examples of clean and sustainable energy.
Nowadays, it seems that wind energy is cleaner than photovoltaics, because the second is more difficult to be disposed off. Both this kind of energy are closely related to atmospheric conditions and for this reason one kind can be more efficient in an area than in another.
one because the wind or the sun are scarce or discontinuous. So, might be that a logical solution is to use wind plants for factories or to provide energy to cities or parts of them (because domestic wind turbines are very expansive and not perfectly tested) and that photovoltaics and solar thermal are more suitable for families, little activities and condominiums either because of the price or for the simplicity to install a system of this kind. This is evident from the practical examples, showing with numerical analysis the advantages and disadvantages that can characterize a photovoltaic system. Since there is not much reserve of fossil fuels anymore, the only alternative are, by necessity, renewable energies. Moreover, the problem concerning the protection of present and future generations is serious and harmful because of the strong pollution. To write this thesis, I did a lot of research, but the one that stuck in my mind the most is what I discovered about the city of Lahore. The picturesfound on the web can only give a pale idea of what life is there. Lahore is just the tip of the iceberg of many realities of city pollution that not only results in harm to the health of the environment but also to the people and animals living within these cities.47
After the in-depth study completed, awareness of the unknowns of the future remains, but man, a subject designed to live and endure adversity will find with scientific analysis and with the knowledge that pollution is bad for the Earth and people and the solution for a world with renewable energy and with minimal emissions. May be we have to wait for clean nuclear energy?48
