Biography Was born in London in the 1757, and he rarely left London. He was poor

for all his life. He supported the French revolution and remained a

radical throughout his life. He saw the evil effects of industrial

revolution. Blake was Christian and this faith influenced his poems. He

died in 1827.

Poems - Song of Innocence (1789; the narrator receives inspiration from a

child and he celebrates the creation; the symbol of innocence is the

childhood);

- Song of Experience (1794; he doesn’t reject the previous poem, but

he created his contrary: he expresses his pessimistic view of life;

experience, identified with childhood, coexist whit innocence)

Immagination Blake considered the imagination, and not the senses, as the means

through which Man could know the word. Imagination, or divine vision,

means to see more beyond material realty. God poet and child share this

power of vision.

Poetry Blake’s poetry present a very simple structure and a high individual use

of symbols. He uses a central group of symbols to form a context that

uses for all songs: the child, the father, and Chris representing the state of

innocence, experience, and a higher innocence. His verses are linear and

rhythmical, they show a close relationship between soul and meaning

and are characterised by frequent use of repetition.

Biography Was born in London in 1795 from a humble family. He apprentices to

become a surgeon in 1810. six years later he decide to leave the

profession and devote his life to writing verse. In 1818 write his

masterpiece the Endymion, a long mythological poem. This was a

difficult time for Keats, since his mother and brother died because to TB.

In 1820 he coughed up blood, travelled in Italy to recover his health but

died in Rome in 1821.
