Il mito di Marilyn

Donna diversa da tutte le altre, non il solito stereotipo trasmesso dai media, ma una donna senza paura di mostrare le sue forme, capace di attirare l’attenzione solo con un semplice sorriso. Nel corso della sua breve vita Marilyn è stata sia elogiata sia disprezzata; elogiata grazie al mito che le si è creato attorno dopo la sua morte, con anche il quadro di Andy Warhol, disprezzata per la relazione intrapresa con Kennedy mentre era al potere.

Norma Jeane Baker was born on the first of June in 1926 in Los Angeles. Her childhood was ruined by her father’s death in a car accident and her mother's mental disease; little Norma was shifted from one charity institution to another. Marilyn started looking for a foothold and when she was twenty she married James Daugherty but divorced soon after. In this period she worked in an aeronautical industry and one day the photographer David Conover, who was working at documenting women’s work, noticed her and convinced her to become a model.

She started to pose for many covers until her sensuality was noticed by the film production company Fox that proposed her some roles in little films; but she didn’t obtain the expected success because she was shy and she didn’t speak very fluently, so she decided to attend an acting course.

The girl didn’t have much money so she did some nude photos for Playboy, obtaining a big success.

Marilyn with her breast and her malicious eyes conquered America.

In 1946 Marilyn became blonde and started transforming into the girl that everyone knows. In 1954 Marilyn married the famous football player Joe di Maggio, from whom she divorced within a year. After the separation she moved to New York and met the playwright Arthur Miller: it was love at first sight. The relationship with Miller was not good, so she started to have an extramarital relation with the US president, J.F. Kennedy. Tired of being considered a goddess, she wanted to be a normal girl. This was the cause of her abuse of drugs and alcohol that led her to death on the 5th of August in 1962.
