The Lord of the Rings is a trilogy set in Middle Earth, a fantastic world invented by J.R.R. Tolkien. It talks about the the fight of the Free People of Middle Earth against the rise of the Dark Lord, the master of the Rings of Power. The last and most powerful ring has been found by a hobbit of the Shire, Bilbo Baggins, who lives it in heritage to his nephew Frodo.

What is Frodo's Mission?

When the wizard Gandalf realizes that the ring is the One Sauron is looking for to regain his full powers and rule on the people of Middle Earth, a most dangerous quest begins during which Frodo will have to destroy the ring by casting it into the fires of Mount Doom where it was created. Frodo will at first travel and be helped by some companions forming the Fellowship of the ring: the wizard Gandalf, two man, Aragorn the Ranger and Boromir of Minas Tirith, the elf Legolas, the dwarf Gimli and his hobbit friends, Sam, Pippin and Meriadoch. During the quest they travel through many perils and cross different countries finding aids from Elf and Man lords and many enemies, among which orcs but above all Saruman, a traitor wizard and the armies of the Dark Lord himself. When the Fellowship breaks apart, Frodo and Sam head to Mordor and to Mount Doom while Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli head towards the lands of Man in pursue of a band of orcs that have captured Pippin and Merry.

Gandalf's Fall and Rebirth

Gandalf had fallen in Moria but he’s about to come back as a white wizard, the highest of his kind. He will lead Aragorn and his companion to the defeat of Saruman and to Minas Tirith which needs to be defended during a threatening siege. After the victory, Aragorn, who is heir to the throne of Gondor, is ready to march against Mordor in an attempt to keep the eye of the enemy busy and buy Frodo and Sam time to reach Mount Doom.

The Final Battle and Victory

In the meantime, Frodo and Sam are helped by the most unlikely ally; Gollum, a former bearer of the ring who had been devoured by its power. Together they reach Mount Doom but casting the ring is not easy because it becomes too precious to the bearer who isn’t willing to give it up. After the final fight, Gollum falls into the fires of Mount Doom together with the ring and Sauron is destroyed. Aragorn becomes King of Gondor and the hobbits are praised above all others for their courageous deeds.
