Il Simple present è un tempo semplice, cioè non si avvale di nessun ausiliare nella forma affermativa. Il soggetto, che va sempre espresso, è seguito dalla forma base del verbo.

Present continuous e le sue forme
Il Present Continuous, come tutti i tempi progressivi, è un tempo composto. Utilizza l’ausiliare to be al Simple Present e la forma in -ing del verbo della frase.
soggetto + to be + –ing form
You are eating an apple
soggetto + am not/is not/are not + –ing form
You are not eating an apple
to be + soggetto + –ing form
Are you eating an apple?
Present perfect e le sue forme
Il Present Perfect è un tempo composto che utilizza l’ausiliare to have al Simple Present ed il Participio Passato (3° voce del paradigma) del verbo della frase.
Affirmative form
soggetto + has/have + participio passato
He has just written a letter
soggetto + hasn’t/haven’t + participio passato
He hasn’t just written a letter
have/has + soggetto + participio passato
Has he just written a letter?
Present perfect continuous e le sue forme
Il Present Perfect Continuous è un tempo composto che si costruisce utilizzando il Present Perfect di to be e la -ing form del verbo.
Affirmative form
soggetto + have/has been + –ing form
We have working very hard
soggetto + hasn’t/haven’t been + –ing form
We haven’t been working very hard
have/has + soggetto + been + –ing form
Have we been working very hard?
Past simple e le sue forme
Il Past Simple, nella forma affermativa, è un tempo semplice, che è dato dalla seconda voce del paradigma ed è uguale per tutte le persone; i verbi regolari si formano aggiungendo –ed al verbo.

Yesterday, you went to school
soggetto + didn’t + verbo base
Yesterday, you didn’t go to school
did + soggetto + verbo base

Past continuous e le sue forme
Il Past Continuous è un tempo composto che utilizza l'ausiliare to be al Past Simple ed il verbo nella -ing form.
Affirmative form
soggetto + was/were + –ing form
They were cooking when the phone rang
soggetto + was/were not + –ing form
They weren’t cooking when the phone rang
was/were + soggetto + –ing form
Were they cooking when the phone rang?
Past perfect e le sue forme
Il Past Perfect è un tempo composto che utilizza l'ausiliare to have al
Past Simple (had) e il Participio Passato del verbo (3° voce del paradigma). Resta invariato in tutte le persone.
soggetto + had + participio passato
When I arrived at the station, the train had just left
soggetto + had not + participio passato
When I arrived at the station, the train hadn’t left

Futuro con will e altre forme
Il futuro con will è un tempo composto che utilizza l’ausiliare will e la Forma Base del verbo (infinito senza to).
Affirmative form
soggetto + will + verbo base
You will buy a new car
soggetto + won’t + verbo base
You won’t buy a new car
will + soggetto + verbo base
Will you buy a new car?
Si utilizza il Present Continuous del verbo to go, seguito dall’infinito del verbo della frase.

Il Simple Present è un tempo semplice che si forma con il soggetto seguito dalla forma base del verbo, come in "I go to school every day".
La forma negativa del Present Continuous si costruisce con "soggetto + am not/is not/are not + –ing form", ad esempio "You are not eating an apple".
Il Present Perfect utilizza "have/has + participio passato", mentre il Present Perfect Continuous si forma con "have/has been + –ing form", come in "We have been working very hard".
Il Past Simple si forma con la seconda voce del paradigma del verbo, come in "Yesterday, you went to school", ed è uguale per tutte le persone.
