Il “simple past” o “past simple” (passato semplice) è un tempo inglese che esprime un’azione
o una situazione riferita a un eriodo di tem o ben definito e com letamente trascorso.
Corrisponde ai tempi italiani: imperfetto (ero), passato remoto (fui), passato prossimo (sono
stato).
Forma affermativa Forma interrogativa
was (io ero, fui, sono stato) Was …..?
you were (tu eri, fosti, sei stato) Were you…..?
he was (egli/lui era, fu, è stato) Was he…..?
she was (ella/lei era, fu, è stato) Was she…..?
it was (esso/a era, fu, è stato) Was it…..?
we were (noi eravamo, fummo, siamo stati) Were we…..?
you were (voi eravate, foste, siete stati) Were you …..?
they were (essi/e, loro erano, furono, sono stati) Were they…..?

Remember (ricorda)
Non usare mai l’ausiliare “did” per la forma passata interrogativa o negativa del verbo essere.

Exam les:
Tu eri a casa ieri = You were at home yesterday.
Eri a casa ieri? = Were you at home yesterday?
Non eri a casa ieri = You weren’t at home yesterday.
Dove eri ieri? = Where were you yesterday?
Perchè non eri a casa ieri mattina? = Why weren't you at home yesterday morning?
