il testo è questo:
George Orwell’s real name was Eric Blair. He was born in 1903 in India. When he was a little child he moved to England with his mother and was educated at some important schools. He could not stand the British values of the school and at Eton he began to develop an independence minded personality. When he finished school he returned to India, were he worked for the Imperial police.
Back in London, he tried the poverty, indeed he wore second-hand clothes and lived in lodging-houses. In Paris he worked as a dishwasher in a hotel, and then he decided to publish his works with the pseudonym of George Orwell.( George because it had an Englishness and Orwell because it’s the name of a river he was fond of).
In 1933 he published “Down and out Paris and London” , where he described his experience among the poor people and in 1934 “Burmese Days”. In 1936 he married Eileen O’Shaughnessy, and a year later he published the “The road to Wigan”, where he talks about the conditions of the miners, factory workers in the industrial north of England before World War II.
In 1936 he went to Catalonia to report about the Spanish civil war and when he returned he and his wife adopted a son, named Richard Horatio Blair .
In 1945 he published “Animal farm” and “Nineteen eighty-four”, his most original novels. Orwell’s life and works were marked by the conflict between his middle-class background and education and his emotional identification with the working class. In 1940 he wrote “Inside the whole”, and tried to define the role of the writer.
Orwell was a critic, political journalist and pamphleteer. He gives us a vision of human fraternity, he insisted on tolerance, justice and relationship of humans, moved against the increasing of the urban civilization and against the tyranny.

The plot
The story is set in Mr Jones’s farm: he exploits his animals without mercy and he often mistreats them when he is drunk. One day the old, wise, and respected boar of the farm, Old Major, tells his friends that he had a dream in which the animals were free from human beings and they were able to determine their fate. Everyone notices that, in the dream, the only animal that consumes without producing anything is the man, the real “enemy” of the animals. So Old Major teaches the animals a revolutionary song called Beasts of England. Unfortunately, the old boar suddenly dies three nights later. Three young pigs – Napoleon, Snowball and Squealer – assume the command and consider it a duty to prepare the Rebellion. When drunken Mr Jones forgets to feed the animals and to milk the cows, the animals revolt leaving their fenced areas, chasing the irresponsible Mr Jones away and renaming the farm “Animal Farm”.
