What is Portobello Road and its market?
-Portobello Road: it is a street located in the district of Notting Hill where a lots of markets attract a large number of tourist, especially on Saturday with antiques market.
- London Eye: the name is “London eye” because from it you can see all the city. It was inaugurated on 31 December 1999, it is 135 meters high and it is built on the banks of the river Thames.
-River Thames: it flows through London and empties in the North sea. It is considerated to be the first river in the UK for historical and economic importance.
History of Charing Cross station
-Charing Cross Station: it is located in the centre of London and it takes its name from the place where it is located. It was built in 1864 but in 1905 the roof collapsed. In 1906 it was reopened to the public.
-County Hall: it was the seat of government until 1986, now it is the seat of the museum of the cinema. It was inaugurated in 1922.
-Big Ben: it is the name of the bell in the clock, the building was began in 1854 and finished in 1859. It remained “mute” three times.
The Palace of Westminster
-Westminster Palace: also said “Houses of Parliament” It’s on the banks of Thames. It is one of the most visited tourist attraction.
-Westminster Abbey: it is built in gothic style. Within it there are Westminster Abbey Choir School And Westminster school.
-Buckingham Palace: it is the Queen Elisabeth and Prince Filippo’s residence. It’s open to the public in August and September.
- Hide Park is one of the largest parks in London. Inside it you can find there the lake "Serpentine" from its coil shape. You can also meet the squirrels.
- Changing of the Guard: it is a ceremony in front of the palace. There is once a day.
I think that London is a great city and it deserves to be visited.

-Portobello Road: è una via situata nel quartiere di Notting Hill dove si svolgono mercati che attirano turisti soprattutto al sabato grazie al mercato di antiquariato.
-London Eye: il nome significa “occhio di Londra” perché da essa si vede tutta la città. È stata inaugurata il 31 dicembre del 1999. È alta 135 metri ed è costruita sulla riva del fiume Thames.
-Fiume Tamigi: scorre attraverso Londra e sfocia nel Mare del Nord. È da considerare il primo fiume del Regno Unito per importanza storica ed economica anche se non si sa la lunghezza esatta del fiume.
-Stazione di Charing Cross: è situata nel centro di Londra prende il suo nome dalla località in cui è situata. Venne costruita nel 1864, ma nel 1905 il tetto crollò e nel 1906 fu riaperta al pubblico.
-County Hall: è stata la sede del governo fino al 1986, oggi è sede del museo del cinema. È stato inaugurato nel 1922.
-Il Big Ben: Big Ben e il nome della campana nell’orologio. La costruzione è iniziata nel 1854 e terminata nel 1859. È rimasto “muto” 3 volte.
-Palazzo di Westminster: anche detto Houses of Parliament si trova sulla riva del Tamigi. È una delle attrazioni turistiche più visitate.
