I swear that I leave here these infernal

Prestige, and then that raises a divine

Music that you would restore the senses

Submerge it 'where waves did not reach

Sounding ever.

ATTO V SCENA I

ARIEL - Vado e li porterò qui, signore.

PROSPERO - O voi, elfi dei colli, dei ruscelli, dei laghi quieti e dei boschi; e voi, che lungo la sabbia, senza lasciare il segno dell'orma, inseguite il mare quando arretra e striscia dalla riva, e scappate da esso quando torna; o voi gnomi che al lume di luna fate cerchi d'erba di aspro sapone che la pecora non mangia, che per gioco create i funghi a mezzanotte e con gioia udite il coprifuoco; voi, mie deboli potenze : col vostro aiuto ho coperto il sole a mezzogiorno, destato venti ribelli, ho sollevato il verde mare in furia contro il cielo, dato fuoco al tremendo e strepitoso tuono, ho spaccatto la quercia di Giove con il suo stesso fulmine, provocato terremoti dal fondamento della terra, sradicato il cedro ed il pino. Con la mia possente magia, svegliai dalle tombe i morti, che si aprirono per liberarli. Ora rinnego la barbara magia e quando avrò chiesto, come adesso chiedo, un'armonia celeste che con aereo incanto(??) agisca sui loro sensi, perchè era questo l'intento, spezzerò il mio bastone e lo metterò nel profondo della terra, e là, dentro il mare, dove non giunge lo scandaglio, affonderò il mio libro.
