Globalisation has been recently converted in one of the most discussed topics of modern era. Surely it had deeply affected our lives but it is a matter of speculation whether it has brought more positive or negative consequences.

First of all it must be said that for the influence it had, and still continues to have nowadays, it can be considered a true revolution. Secondly it must be noticed that the pros and the downsides this phenomenon brings with itself, actually counterbalance each other.

Economic and Cultural Benefits

I speak as a person who has never experienced the situation before the whole process beginning, since I was born long time after it. For this reason I couldn’t sincerely imagine how difficult it must have been to get in touch with goods produced outside one’s country at that time, and in this perspective it is clearly evident the beneficial side of this huge and well-organised machine. Moreover, it surely has the merit to have built bridges between cultures, contributing to creating new links. This has consequently led to a better knowledge of traditions and customs of people coming from every corner of the world. From an economic point of view, it must be added that it has given the opportunity to provide each country with the whole range of products and subsistence independently from the season or other internal factors.

Disadvantages of Globalization

On the contrary it would be considered a downside the fact that the process has promoted a larger use of machineries which had led to a massive system of production, thus surely putting in danger small local factories. Another consequence is the pollution that has been originated from such an uncontrolled behaviour.

But, would it be possible for men to live without all the privileges Globalisation provides them with?

Modern society wouldn’t probably exist in its absence but surely some strategies could be applied in order to reduce its drawbacks.

Importance of Global Information

Being always up to date is an absolute must in nowadays society. I am not just referring to mode or fashion, nor to what social media propose us: I am talking about the incredible importance of knowing what it is truly happening in the world or at least in the environment surrounding us.

Nevertheless by not doing so we are passing up the possibility of being well-informed, which is pretty unacceptable in such a dynamic and always in progress world.

As a matter of fact knowing enables people to develop their own ideas regarding some important aspects or current situations, thus generating a wider and more stable general conscience. In this way it may be possible to achieve a worldwide-spread commitment making people aware of true problems.

It has to be seen for example the case of the terrible fires in Australia at the beginning of January: thanks to newspapers, officials sites but also social media it has been possible to fight against that destroying natural phenomenon, which was putting an entire nation on its knees in front of the power of such events. In this perspective it must be noticed that also websites and social platforms play an important role, although they may sometimes spread fake news.

To sum up, I firmly believed that anyone should be aware of the political and social situation we are living in as it would make people able to avoid the development of the same problems in the future.

Advantages of Self-Employment

I have been listening to a radio discussion about the possible benefits and downsides of being self-employed instead of working for someone else and the final response has been far more positive for the first option.

Surely it may seem more difficult to start our own agency at first, but the results actually perfectly counterbalance the initial issues. As a matter of fact such a working activity implies a better and more flexible time schedule since we are the one in charge of deciding for ourselves. In this way it is clearly evident that it may be possible to organise our day without depending on any superior: parents with children would be able to accompany them to school without rushing to manage to arrive at work on time or one could just decide to work from home.

Another important aspect is surely the fact that, being independent, you can consider yourself as the one and only responsible for the decisions you have made and you are aware that your success or failure just depends on your attitude or work commitment. Other people have also highlighted the fact that if your work has a positive feedback in term of profits, it means that such amount of money is just for yourself and does not belong to anybody else.

Nevertheless starting a brand-new activity calls for a lot of energy and hard work, but it actually a matter of fact that once it starts to grow the benefits are far more than the drawbacks.

Understanding Different Cultures

Being able to understand a different culture from the one we have been born into is actually difficult but extremely important at the same time since it makes us able to have a wider view of the world we live in, also wide opening our mind horizons.

There are surely a lot of possibilities to get deeper in touch with the history of another country but the most effective way is probably by visiting the place in person being an active tourist which does not just implies that you take a tour of the most important and well-known attraction, but also that you try to catch the true essence of those people living in the country you are travelling through. It refers to their way of acting, speaking and behaving which surely has to be considered the effective mirror of their cultural and historical background. This perfectly explains why a lot people choose to be hosted by a local families and those who have experienced such a full immersion in the new language would definitely recommend it as the most amazing time of their lives.

It could also be important to read about the culture you want to know in order to understand the real importance of national festivities and events, which are peculiar characteristics of every specific nation. In addition to this also the history of a country could be useful to explain certain modern attitudes or beliefs.

In few words we all have to be curious and dig into the history of a culture in order to deeply understand it.

Recently I have been seeing a lot of movies but surely the one that has catched my attention the most was to docufilm of Chiara Ferragni. For those who do not know who she is, it may be somehow difficult to understand the content of the documentary.

She basically is an Italian fashion influencer who approximately began her career in 2009. In few-years-time she became world widely known as an icon and even created her own brand based on the outfits she used to post on her official website named “the blonde salad”. She immediately gained so much success that people began to invite her to important events and campaigns.
