They cannot fly because they have flippers instead of wings, so they usually walk on land, but if they live in cold places, when the conditions are right, they slide through the ice on their bellies. Penguins mostly live in the Southern Hemisphere, only one species is found in the north of the Equator: the Galapagos penguin.
