Come dice il nome stesso, il present perfect è un tempo correlato al presente, al momento in cui si parla. Si tratta di azioni passate ma che hanno ancora correlazione con il now.

Si forma con il presente indicative di to have seguito dal past participle che per i verbi regolari è uguale al simple past e per gli irregolari è la terza forma del paradigma:
We have worked/ She has eaten

- Si usa per un’azione avvenuta in un tempo indeterminato del passato che non si è ancora conclusa nel presente. Se nella frase è indicato un momento preciso in cui l’azione è avvenuta si usa il simple past.
Look, there is an ambulance, there has been an accident (guarda! Adesso).
Where is your key? I don’t know, I have lost it. (le ho perse, adesso non le trovo).
He told me his name but I’ve forgotten it (non lo ricordo adesso).

- Si usa sempre il present perfect con alcuni avverbi di frequenza (just: appena; already: già; yet: ancora/già).
Have you just arrived?
The train has already left.
Jack has not posted the letter yet.
