Concetti Chiave

  • Le forme contratte di "will" e "shall" sono comunemente usate nella lingua parlata, come in "I'll go" o "we'll go".

Uso di will e shall

Per le prime persone (I e we) si adopera “shall”, per le altre (you, he, she, it, they) si adopera “will”.

• I shall go - you will go - he/she/it will go – we shall go – you will go – they will go

Contrazioni di will e shall

Nella lingua parlata, will e shall diventano ‘ll

• I’ll go – you’ll go – he/she/it’ll go – we’ll go – you’ll go – they’ll go

• I think it will rain tomorrow = Penso che domani pioverà

• Perhaps she will be late = Forse essa sarà in ritardo

Uso di going to

Liverpool are going to win the European Cup = Liverpool sta per vincere/vincerà la Coppa europea

• You’re going to fall = Stai per cadere

• It is going to rain = Fra poco pioverà

• I am going to speak to her this afternoon = Gli parlerò questo pomeriggio

I can see you’re going to have a baby. Wehen is it due? = Vedo che stai per avere un bambino. A quando il lieto evento?

Futuro progressivo

I shall be seening him tomorrow = Lo vedrò domani
Dopo gli avverbi di tempo come when (= quando), until (fino) e as soon as (non appena) si usa il present tense, sebbene esista un riferimento al futuro

• Ti aspetterò qui finché tu non sarai tornato = I’ll wait for you here

until you het back

• L’aeroplano per Roma partirà alle 10:00 = The plane for Rome leaves at

10:00
