Autumn Reflections
It’s hard do decide which my favourite season is, but I think it’s autumn. After the summer rush and activities, autumn offers a time for relaxation, meditation and a better focus inward. The days get shorter, the weather is sunny but a bit colder in the mornings and evenings, you start spending more time at home. I think autumn is a good season for reflection. The colours, the colder wind, the longer nights boost your meditative side and make you ponder on life. Indeed, autumn is an in-between season, the period that slowly turns into winter, and prepares nature to fall into sleep. Autumn makes you reflect upon how much life is fleeting. It reminds you that life can’t go on forever and always needs a period of rest. Everything has to stop for a while and gain strength before coming back to life.
The Rhythm of Modern Life
That’s true for everything: for plants, for animals, for humans. Especially in this modern, fast-moving world, you need to remember that you’re made of flesh and bones and that you sometimes have to stop, not only to rest your body, but mainly to rest your mind. Otherwise, you risk spending your entire life running after something you’ll never reach and without even knowing what you’re doing. Autumn is the right time to do that. I especially like to spend my evenings on the sofa, enjoying the early twilight with a cup of herbal tea and a good book. There’s no better time to slow down you pace and enjoy the intimacy of your own home.
