Simple past

Si usa per esprimere un’azione avvenuta in un tempo passato e interamente conclusa, anche se da poco. Si usa con indicatori temporali quali yesterday, ago (two years ago: due anni fa), last week, last month, last year.

Per i verbi regolari si forma aggiungendo –ed alla forma base del verbo (worked, arrived, travelled).
Per i verbi regolari è la seconda forma del paradigma (ate, was/were, forgot).

Shaekspeare wrote several plays.
Last month we studied the first world war.
